tax free
In Rhodes, as in all of Greece, “tax refund” for tourists is usually called Tax Free / VAT Refund.
Here’s how it works in practice:
1. Shop at a store that participates in Tax Free
Like Zara Jumbo or electrical stores
At the entrance or at the checkout there will usually be a sign saying:
Global Blue / Planet Tax Free. And so on.
2. When shopping
You will need to show your passport and they will ask you if you want a refund in cash or credit.
In Greece, the minimum amount is usually around €50 in that store.
3. Do not use the product!
Theoretically, customs can check that the product is new and not “entered into service”.
In practice, they usually do not check clothes, but in bags, watches, electronics, and the like, they can ask to see.
4. At the airport when leaving Rhodes
Before check-in or before sending luggage:
Go to Customs located in the landing hall
Show: passport, flight ticket, forms
Customs signs the refund form. Without this stamp, you will not receive a refund.
5. Receiving the money
After the stamp: Go to the counters at the duty free and receive a refund
Good luck, champions!
